Living with it

The AF101 earned a permanent spot on our counter within a week. Weeknight staples - frozen fries, chicken thighs, roasted vegetables - come out crisp outside and juicy inside with a fraction of the oil and none of the oven preheat wait. The ceramic-coated basket releases food easily, and because the parts go in the dishwasher, the 'who cleans it' argument never happens. It is the rare kitchen gadget that reduces effort instead of adding a hobby.

Where it shows its limits

Capacity is the honest trade-off: four quarts handles dinner for two comfortably and three at a stretch, but a family meal means batching. There's no viewing window, so you learn to pull the basket for a shake-and-peek - a small ritual, not a real problem. Power users who want app control, dual zones, or rotisserie features are shopping in a different price bracket entirely.

Should you buy it?

If you've been air-fryer-curious, this is the lowest-risk entry point on the market: cheap enough to try, good enough to keep. Small households can stop reading here and just get one. Families of four or more should look at 6-quart-plus dual-basket models instead - same idea, more room - and expect to pay roughly double.
